2/8/25: Full as always w 1 uber/lyft (hate them at these places. Why don’t they get their own chargers!?) 3rd in line from 12pm on a Saturday. 12:41 finally started. Uber next to me is STILL CHARGING and only at 85%?? Also BMW just got in and only 5 (FIVE) cars waiting. Last, there’s something these stations do where they always limit the charging to take 30 minutes to go to 80%. I came in at 55% and should have taken only a bit to charge. However it’s only going at 70kw max and making me stay the whole 30 minutes. 1/24/25: ALWAYS a wait to charge. Line of at least 2 maybe 3 cars. Worst are the uber and lyfts that charge to 100% and make you wait double. Aside from that, got up to 110 charging speeds. 30 min always from any level to 80%
Update:Jan 2025, updated chargers installed. Thanks EA. Only 4 chargers and always crowded, though. Many NYC TLC cars use this station and charge to 100% (understandably, they need to). Not uncommon to have 5-8 cars waiting at a time. If you're traveling through the area, the Stamford CT station is a MUCH BETTER option with 8 new chargers.
The charging was fine when it finally worked. I had issues with the Electrify America app. The chargers themselves connected just fine. I connected to all of them, as others with the same make and model EV pulled out. However, as mentioned, I was plagued with app trouble. As mentioned, the other drivers had the same promotional deal I had but mine wasn't functioning properly that night. I was there at night, when all you see is the green glow of the pumps. It looks cool but as mentioned in another review, it's a bit dark otherwise. The green lights add illumination your eyes have to get used to. It's not too far out of the way. Waiting was not an issue. 1/2025 Ever since changing to 350kW pumps, they only seem to go as high as about 125-130kW at peak output. Not shabby but it's rare to get higher than that during a charge.
The Electrify America chargers in New Rochelle leave much to be desired, earning a disappointing two-star rating. Despite the advertised charging speed, the machines consistently fall short, never delivering as promised. It's frustrating to rely on these chargers, only to find that the charging speed is a far cry from what's indicated on the machine or the app. Adding to the frustration, the station's reliability is a major concern. With only four chargers available, it's disheartening to discover that at least one is almost always out of service. In a region with limited Electrify America charging stations, this unreliability significantly impacts the accessibility of electric vehicle charging options. The experience at this location underscores the need for improved maintenance and service reliability. For electric vehicle users in the area, the lack of consistent functionality and the discrepancy in charging speeds make these Electrify America chargers in New Rochelle a less-than-ideal choice.
Easy accessible location with charging stations that appear to have a high uptime. Site is popular and often crowded on weekends so more stations are needed. Edited: last week, 2 of 4 stations were out of service. This week 1 was still out of service. Hour-long wait to charge. Edited 12/17/23 - 1 station out of service. Same as the past few weeks. Lots of cars waiting. Removing another star.
