NO! Small mistakes can cause BIG problems and pose serious danger to your home and family. A trained and certified JM Electric technician will evaluate your lifestyle and home’s electricity, explain the best panel for your property, install/connect the panel/circuit breakers, and test and document your system for code/zoning requirements.
Typically, a panel replacement includes a panel upgrade. It just depends on what you currently have. Panel replacements are highly recommended if your panel has any damage to it, and your new one may be an upgrade to your old one.
Electrical panels need to be replaced between 24-40 years, but we recommend having our electricians inspect your panel if it’s more than ten years old to see if it’s ready for a replacement. If your panel is getting up there in years, give us a call for a free in-home inspection!
Fuse boxes are usually out-of-date. They can’t handle modern electrical loads without placing fuses in them that are too large and can become fire hazards. We recommend having a fuse box replaced with a circuit breaker panel.
Rewiring is a separate, bigger job. For most homes, when it’s time to put in a new panel, the rest of the wiring will be in good shape and not need any replacements. Replacing the panel is almost always part of rewiring a house since it’s necessary to meet the new requirements. If you’re concerned about your home’s wiring in addition to the panel, ask us to do a wiring inspection.
Casey with JM did an amazing job installing our new ceiling fan! The old one we were replacing had a weird wiring setup and was mounted 12 feet in the air on a curved metal sheet joisted across a vaulted ceiling, so I was worried it wouldn’t be a simple job, but he took care of it with no issue in good time and at a great price, and even took the initiative to mount the new fan’s remote on a blank electrical slate over where the old switch was. I couldn’t be happier with the results!

JM Electric has been fantastic with the services they have provided with updating all of my electrical wiring in my home. My home is older and needed to be updated for safety and electrical compliance. The installation for the entire house took two 8 hour days and was updated to perfection.
